Description: Cleaning teeth: Remove plaque, tartar, and stains from teeth
Applying sealants and fluoride: Apply sealants and fluoride to help protect teeth from decay
Taking X-rays: Take and develop X-rays to assess the extent of decay and disease
Educating patients: Teach patients how to brush and floss correctly, and provide other oral hygiene information
Updating patient records: Maintain patient records, including medical and dental histories
Referring patients to dentists: When needed, refer patients to a dentist for further treatment
Sterilizing equipment: Practice sterilization and infection control procedures, and maintain dental equipment
Providing administrative support: Provide administrative support, such as patient communication and record-keeping

Requirements: Associate’s degree from an accredited hygiene program.
State hygiene license.
Current CPR certificate.
Current on Hepatitis B vaccination.
Ability to administer local anesthetic agents.
Able to use an x-ray machine.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
