Description: A medical biochemist is a specialist who studies the chemical and biological processes in the human body, and uses their knowledge to:
Manage and operate hospital biochemistry laboratories
Interpret laboratory tests
Provide advice on the selection and interpretation of laboratory tests
Consult with patients and physicians on conditions related to metabolism
Develop and integrate research programs with clinical practice
Teach clinically-applied biochemistry
Medical biochemists play a vital role in modern medicine, from routine blood tests to diagnosing and treating complex medical conditions. They work in a variety of settings, including: hospital-based labs, clinics, and other patient-focused locations.
Some of their typical duties include:
Analyzing specimens of blood, tissues, or urine
Investigating abnormal test results
Working closely with other scientists
Developing new tests
Meeting patients
Medical biochemists need a range of skills, including: Problem solving, Formulating hypotheses, Directed information searches, Critically appraising data, and Analytical skills to identify problems and find solutions.

The position is full time Sunday - Thursday with a competitive salary based on qualifications and experience.

Requirements: Bachelor’s in biology, chemistry, or related field.
More education, experience, or specialization may be preferred.
Familiarity with laboratory testing, data recording practices, and safety procedures.
Strong understanding of scientific concepts and biological processes.
Ability to train, motivate, coach, and lead a team of other researchers and research assistants.
