Description
We are looking for a skilled radiology technician to work with closely with patients when performing radiologic imaging procedures. The Radiology Technicians responsibilities include explaining procedures to patients, positioning patients and equipment, performing examinations, developing film, and maintaining and operating specialized radiologic equipment. The Radiology Technician is also responsible for ensuring patients safety by covering any areas not being imaged to prevent unnecessary exposure to radiation. You may become specialized in a particular radiographic procedure, such as MRI Technicians, CT Technicians, or Mammography Technicians.

To be successful as a radiology technician, you should have strong technical skills, as well as good interpersonal skills when working with patients. You should be considerate and compassionate and have the physical stamina to lift heavy equipment and physically disabled patients.

Radiology Technician Responsibilities:

-Completing the patients intake process, taking patients histories, and preparing and educating patients about the imaging procedure.
-Reviewing patients charts and Doctors notes before the examination, and maintaining patients records during and after procedures.
-Preparing radiopharmaceuticals for contrast in the diagnostic images.
-Positioning patients and equipment to capture the correct area and produce clear images.
Requirements
Graduate - Associates degree preferred from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification is required within one year of hire. Certification must be maintained throughout employment.
Basic Life Support (CPR) Certification through American Heart Association required.
Current Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) licensure must be kept current and maintained.
Excellent communication/listening skills, bilingual helpful.
Ability to make quick, accurate decisions on a daily basis. Ability to handle stressful situations.
Operates a personal computer, which includes Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and other department specific software as required.
Maintain and update educational record on an annual basis. Meet all department required competencies.
Speaks clearly person-to-person and on telephone and records accurate messages.
Ability to move up to 20 lbs. on a regular basis. Ability to move patients, and equipment, on a regular basis.
